4,300 Punjab schools await two months of payments
Around 20,000 teachers and administrators are affected, and PEIMA says dues are being cleared in phases.

Approximately 4,300 schools operating under the Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority have not received payments for July and August, according to reports published by TechJuice and ProPakistani. The delay has left teachers, administrators and school owners without two months of income.
The affected schools serve around 600,000 students. School owners told the outlets that the lack of funds has made it difficult to cover routine expenses, and that nearly 20,000 teachers and administrative staff working in these licensee schools are facing pressure on their household finances.
PEIMA officials said payments to licensee schools are being released in phases. They assured that the remaining outstanding dues will be cleared soon, but did not give a date for when the full amount would be paid. It was not clear from the reports how many schools have received partial payments so far.
Neither report stated the reason for the delay in July and August payments. The affected schools operate across Punjab under PEIMA's public-private partnership model, and the authority has not commented on why the disbursements fell behind.
School owners said the payment gap has made it hard to pay staff salaries on time, adding to household financial stress for teachers and administrators. The reports noted that around 600,000 students are currently enrolled in the affected schools, and they continue to attend classes.
Teachers and school owners are waiting for clarity on the schedule of remaining payments as the new academic term continues. The payment delay was first reported on 22 September 2026 by TechJuice, and ProPakistani carried the same figures the same day. Neither outlet reported any response from the provincial education department beyond PEIMA's statement. The delay has drawn attention to the funding of PEIMA schools.
