Two women, one of them an 11-year-old girl, were killed in separate traffic accidents in Karachi and at least five other people were injured in crashes across the city, Express News reported.

In the first incident, a dumper ran over a motorcycle near Road No. 6 in Bhains Colony. Rescue officials quoted by the outlet identified the dead girl as 11-year-old Eman. The motorcycle was carrying a young man and his two sisters; the brother and the second sister escaped unhurt.

After the crash, a crowd at the scene pelted the dumper and smashed its windscreen. Sukhan police reached the site and brought the situation under control, and the body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital with the help of Edhi volunteers.

Sukhan station house officer Irfan Ali said the driver responsible had fled, while police impounded the dumper and moved it to the police station. He said a search for the driver was under way.

In a second incident, a 55-year-old woman pedestrian was hit by an unidentified vehicle on Tariq Road. She was taken to Jinnah Hospital in a critical condition and died during treatment, according to the report. Her identity could not immediately be established and police said they were investigating.

On Main Korangi Road near the Akhtar Colony signal, a man identified as 50-year-old Alana was seriously injured when a water tanker struck him. Chhipa volunteers took him to Jinnah Hospital. Defence police impounded the tanker, and its driver fled the scene.

On the Northern Bypass in Baldia, near Baiko Pump, a speeding truck went out of control and overturned into unpaved ground beside the road. Police and Chhipa volunteers took three injured men to Civil Hospital: Haider, 30, Faisal, 25, and Lareb, 35.

On the Sher Shah flyover in Gulbai, a taxi struck the footpath, injuring two people on board. Aurangzeb, 45, and Ayaz, 40, were taken to Civil Hospital for treatment.

The report put the number of injured in the other incidents at five, although its detailed account names six people taken to hospital: three from the overturned truck, two from the taxi and the pedestrian hit by the water tanker. Two of the vehicles' drivers were still at large, police said.
