Hunan Resources reopens Dhabeji factory after SIFC intervention
Company says plant in Thatta district, Sindh, had been shut since February, causing losses before council helped it restart.

Hunan Resources SMC (Private) Limited has restarted production at its factory in Dhabeji, District Thatta, Sindh, after the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) intervened to resolve an unspecified operational issue, the company and the council said.
The plant had been closed since February 2026, according to a September 15 letter the company sent to SIFC that Business Recorder reported. Hunan Resources said in the letter that the shutdown caused substantial financial losses and affected its investment, operations and business commitments. It said it had made continuous efforts to resolve the matter, but it remained unresolved for a considerable period. The company did not disclose the nature of the problem or the date the factory restarted.
On Friday, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported that Hunan Resources had formally thanked SIFC for what it called timely intervention and effective facilitation. Business Recorder said the company wrote that it valued the role SIFC played in facilitating investors and addressing genuine operational challenges, and that the support had protected its investment and strengthened its confidence in continuing its business and investment activities in Pakistan.
SIFC said the reopening of the Dhabeji facility reflected the impact of coordinated investment facilitation in addressing investor concerns and supporting the continuity of industrial operations. The council said it continues to help investors through a whole-of-government approach, focusing on resolving legitimate business concerns, strengthening investor confidence and creating a more conducive environment for investment and industrial activity. It added that it remains committed to facilitating investment, safeguarding investor interests and supporting sustainable industrial growth in Pakistan.
