K-Electric eases load-shedding in Korangi, SITE and other Karachi areas
The utility's quarterly review moves several neighbourhoods from the medium-loss to the low-loss category and others out of the high-loss bracket.

K-Electric has revised its load-shedding schedule in Karachi, moving parts of Korangi, Azizabad, Jacob Lines, Ibrahim Hyderi Goth, SITE and Surjani Town from the medium-loss to the low-loss category in its latest quarterly review. The utility said the changes take effect immediately.
In Korangi, the areas affected are Abdullah Shah Noorani Colony, Pak Ittehad Colony, Zaman Town and Sectors 48-A, 48-B, 48-C, 48-D and 48-E. In Azizabad, Blocks 2 and 8 of Federal B Area, Bhangoria Goth, Block 9 Yasinabad and Naimat Colony have also been moved. Kyani Shaheed, Randle Road, APWA Complex Road, Jubilee Cloth Market, Biltistani Mohalla in Jacob Lines, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Colony and Altaf Town are on the same list.
K-Electric attributed the improvement to lower aggregated technical and commercial (AT&C) losses, timely payment of bills and coordination with local representatives, according to ProPakistani.
A second group of neighbourhoods has moved from the high-loss to the medium-loss category and will receive reduced load-shedding. These are Saadat Colony, Moria Khan Goth, Soldier Bazar, Tagore Street, Aminabad Society and Martin Quarters, along with parts of Orangi Town: Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz, Millat Colony, Madina Colony and Al-Mustafa Colony.
The utility said nearly 70% of its service area, covering more than 2,100 feeders, remains exempt from load-shedding. The revised schedule is available on K-Electric's website, the KE Live app and its WhatsApp service.
This is the first revision since July 2026, when the previous quarterly review was carried out. The utility ties the reclassification of feeders to bill payment compliance and to efforts to curb electricity theft in the areas concerned, with local representatives credited for coordination.
Feeders placed in the low-loss category are treated as exempt from scheduled outages, while those in the medium-loss bracket face shorter shutdowns than high-loss feeders. The new categories apply from the date of publication of the schedule.
