Met Office forecasts heavy rain across Punjab from October 28
A fresh western weather system is expected to bring strong winds and thunderstorms, with The Nation also forecasting hail and colder weather.

The Meteorological Department has forecast a heavy spell of rain across Punjab from October 28, with strong winds and thunderstorms expected as a fresh western weather system moves over the province and temperatures fall sharply.
According to the forecast reported by ProPakistani on Monday, the system will bring rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorm activity across the province. A significant drop in temperature is anticipated, and the intensity of the cold is expected to increase as the spell takes hold.
The Nation also reported the change in weather, forecasting more showers and hail for Punjab along with colder conditions. Dunya News carried the same forecast, leading on what it called a sudden turn in the weather, a fall in temperature after rain and a high alert.
The accounts did not carry district-level rainfall projections or a city-by-city advisory, and none named the officials who issued the forecast. They gave no estimate of how much rain individual districts might receive, and no end date for the spell beyond its expected arrival on October 28.
What all three reports agree on is the shape of the change: rain from the middle of the week, gusty winds and thunderstorms at the front of the system, and colder weather behind it. Hail appears only in The Nation's account.
Late October in Punjab sits between the end of the monsoon and the winter rains, and a western system arriving at this point in the season is typically the first sign of the cold season in the province's northern districts. The forecast as reported does not separate the province's northern and southern districts in timing or intensity.
No rain-related damage or casualties were reported in any of the accounts. This report will be updated if the department issues district-level details or advisories for travellers and farmers.
