MG begins customer deliveries of locally assembled ZS from Lahore plant

MG Pakistan has started customer deliveries of locally assembled MG ZS compact SUVs from its Lahore plant, the company said, marking the start of domestic production of the model and the fulfilment of a delivery deadline it had announced earlier.

The CKD line-off ceremony confirmed that trailers carrying the first locally assembled units had left the plant for customer handovers. According to the company, the dispatch meets its commitment to begin deliveries by the end of September.

The MG ZS lineup in Pakistan includes three variants: Vibe Petrol, Hybrid+ Excite and Hybrid+ Essence. The Vibe Petrol is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a CVT gearbox. The two Hybrid+ variants use a 1.5-litre hybrid system paired with a three-speed hybrid transmission, which the company says delivers a combined output of 158 kW and 465 Nm of torque.

Safety equipment on all variants includes six airbags, Bosch ESP 9.3, Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems and an 81 percent high-strength steel body structure. Boot space is 443 litres, expanding to 1,457 litres with the rear seats folded. The top trim adds a powered tailgate and an electronic panoramic sunroof.

Jianqiang Shao, chief executive of MG Motor Pakistan, said the line-off was an important milestone, and that the first vehicles leaving the factory showed the company had kept its promise to start deliveries by the end of September. He said keeping promises was part of MG's global brand approach.

MG Pakistan said local assembly brings vehicles built to the company's global engineering and safety standards closer to Pakistani buyers and continues the brand's localization effort in the country. The announcement did not specify how many vehicles were in the first dispatch or provide pricing details.
