Punjab CM praises traffic warden for returning cash-filled bag
Sohail Wazir Dogar found the bag during routine patrolling in Lahore’s Timber Market and traced its owner through documents inside.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif met Lahore traffic warden Sohail Wazir Dogar on Wednesday and praised him for returning a lost bag containing cash and important documents to its owner.
According to Minute Mirror, Dogar was carrying out routine patrol duties when he spotted the bag lying on a road in Lahore's Timber Market area. He took the bag into his custody to keep its contents secure. The bag contained a large amount of cash, along with a driving licence and other important documents. The warden checked the available information and took steps to trace the owner. After locating the owner, he handed over the bag and its contents safely, ensuring that the cash and documents were returned without loss.
The Associated Press of Pakistan reported that the bag held a substantial amount of cash and important documents, and that the chief minister appreciated the warden for his honesty and sense of duty on Wednesday. Neither report specified the exact amount of money involved.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said Dogar's honesty and dedication to duty were highly commendable and reflected the importance of integrity and responsibility in public service, Minute Mirror reported. She said if every Pakistani adopted a similar attitude of honesty and sincerity, the country could make significant progress.
The Punjab government pointed to the incident as an example of professional conduct among police and traffic officials. Dogar's action ensured the cash and personal documents were returned without loss, and the chief minister praised him for setting a positive example through his conduct.
The chief minister's office did not disclose where the meeting took place. According to APP, the appreciation came after the bag had already been returned to its owner. The incident was reported by both outlets on Wednesday.
The recognition is part of a pattern in which the Punjab government highlights individual acts of honesty by public servants in an effort to build trust in state institutions.
