Punjab Orders Daily 10-Minute Tests in All Government Schools
The provincial education department has also made monthly assessments compulsory and will track marks on an online portal, ProPakistani and TechJuice reported.

Punjab's School Education Department has ordered all government schools in the province to hold a 10-minute quick test every day and a comprehensive assessment once a month for each student, according to official sources quoted by ProPakistani. The directive, reported on 23 September 2026, also requires schools to maintain proper records of both the daily quick tests and the monthly results.
Under the new assessment regime, the marks obtained by each student in monthly tests and school-based assessments will be uploaded to an online portal. TechJuice reported that this digital record will allow the department to track performance in real time at the individual, school and district level. Field officers will cross-check these records against actual classroom practice during routine school visits.
The department has placed responsibility for enforcement on the chief executive officers of district education authorities. They have been directed to ensure that the daily quick tests and monthly assessments are implemented without exception in schools under their charge. The Secretary of School Education will personally review assessment registers during field visits, according to ProPakistani, signalling that the exercise carries weight at the highest level of the department.
Officials told ProPakistani that the monthly assessments are intended chiefly as a diagnostic tool, to flag the specific academic weaknesses of individual students early enough for teachers to intervene, rather than to serve merely as a compliance formality. TechJuice said the new rules end what had previously been a largely inconsistent approach to in-class evaluation across districts.
Separately, ProPakistani reported that the Punjab Examination and Testing Authority has made cross-invigilation and cross-marking mandatory during the first-term school-based assessment. The outlet said PECTA issued new instructions for schools, although details of those instructions were not specified in the report. No official statement from the Punjab government was immediately available beyond the departmental directives carried by the outlets.
