Punjab to Train 160,000 Teachers in AI Curriculum
The AI Curriculum and Training Initiative aims to strengthen artificial intelligence skills across the province's education sector and will also involve students.

The Punjab government will train 160,000 schoolteachers in artificial intelligence under a new provincial programme, the AI Curriculum and Training Initiative, ProPakistani reported. The initiative aims to strengthen AI skills across the province's education sector. The announcement was made by Ali Dar, the Punjab Chief Minister's Advisor on AI and Initiative, while addressing participants at the launch ceremony.
Dar said that thousands of students would also benefit from AI training alongside teachers. He said that equipping educators with modern artificial intelligence skills would help promote the use of the technology across Punjab. The programme is intended to introduce AI into the provincial education curriculum and to train teachers according to the latest standards. Dar expressed hope that Punjab's AI-focused educational syllabus would create better learning and career opportunities for students in the future.
The launch ceremony brought together representatives from the provincial School Education Department, PECTAA, PMIU-PESRP, UNICEF and the Office of AI. The participants discussed how artificial intelligence is changing teaching and learning, according to the report.
The initiative is expected to expand AI-related training for both teachers and students as Punjab moves to integrate emerging technologies into its education system. ProPakistani reported the programme as part of the province's broader effort to build AI capacity in schools. The report did not provide a timeline or budget for the training.
