RDA paid senior officer Rs31,980 for medicines on 2022 prescription
Express News reported that the private hospital which wrote the prescription is not on the authority's approved list, and that internal audit cleared the bill.
The Rawalpindi Development Authority paid Rs31,980 to one of its senior woman officers for medicines bought in 2026 on a prescription written in 2022, Express News reported, in a case that has raised questions about financial discipline and transparency at the authority. UrduPoint also carried the report.
The officer was not posted at the RDA in 2022, when the prescription was issued, according to Express News. The private hospital that wrote it is not on the authority's approved list of hospitals. The medicines listed are multivitamins, which the report describes as strength supplements rather than treatment for an illness. The medicines were bought for the officer's father.
The deputy director finance and the director finance approved the bill, and the internal audit cleared it at the finance directorate stage, Express News reported. The authority's public relations officer declined to give the RDA's position on the reimbursement when contacted repeatedly, the outlet said.
According to the report, ordinary employees at the authority face difficulty getting their own medical reimbursement claims paid.
The payment comes after a larger financial case at the RDA. In May 2025, more than Rs2 billion was found to have been transferred out of the authority's official account through CDs to fictitious companies, Express News reported. That case put the authority's accounts and its audit procedures under scrutiny.
The RDA is the civic body that oversees development in Rawalpindi. Express News did not name the officer, and no departmental inquiry into the reimbursement has been reported.
