Sindh forms JIT to probe Karachi businessman's murder
DIG West Irfan Baloch will convene a team that includes ISI, IB, Rangers and cybercrime representatives and must examine the victim's phone and social media records.

The Sindh government has constituted a joint investigation team to investigate the murder of Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali Khan, appointing a senior city police officer to lead it and drawing in intelligence and cybercrime representatives, according to a notification issued on Wednesday.
DIG West Irfan Baloch will convene the JIT, whose members include representatives of the Inter-Services Intelligence, the Intelligence Bureau, Pakistan Rangers and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, the Daily Times reported. The notification directs all relevant institutions to cooperate fully with investigators.
The team has been asked to establish the circumstances of the death, identify those responsible and prepare a detailed report, and to submit the challan to the relevant court once legal formalities are complete. The case is registered as FIR No. 795/2026 at Ferozabad police station in Karachi.
The JIT's scope covers physical, forensic and digital evidence. Investigators are to examine records from Khan's mobile phone, smartwatch, social media accounts and other accounts to reconstruct his movements and contacts before his death, according to the notification.
Khan went missing from the Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society area on 28 July. His body was recovered two days later in Gulistan-e-Johar, in a severely decomposed condition, with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.
He had left home in an online taxi at 4:09am on the day he disappeared. Police questioned the driver, who told investigators he had dropped him at his kitchen in Gulistan-e-Johar. Khan's social media accounts were deactivated a day before the body was recovered, and police subsequently approached a telecommunications company for his phone records and details of the people who had contacted him.
His father has said Khan's nikah had been scheduled for 30 August at Bait-ul-Mukarram Mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and that his son had been happy about beginning a new chapter in his life.
The formation of the team follows directions from a judicial commission. ARY News and The Nation also reported the JIT's membership and the scope of its investigation.
