Army repels infiltration attempt in Kurram sector
Security forces returned fire after Afghan Taliban opened unprovoked fire on border posts, destroying positions and forcing militants to flee, Express News reported.

Pakistan Army said it thwarted an infiltration attempt by the banned militant group known as Fitna-ul-Khawarij in the Kurram sector along the Afghan border, Express News reported on Tuesday evening.
Security sources told the outlet that the infiltration attempt had been launched under the supervision of Afghan Taliban from posts located in Afghanistan's Nangarhar and Paktia provinces. After the attempt was successfully repelled, Afghan Taliban opened what the sources described as unprovoked fire on Pakistani border posts, using heavy weapons, mortars and other arms.
Pakistani security forces responded immediately and in full force, according to the report. They targeted several Afghan Taliban border posts, mortar positions and defensive checkpoints with small and large weapons, including artillery. The outlet said the Pakistan Army's response silenced the enemy guns, and video footage emerged showing the destruction of Afghan Taliban posts and positions.
The intense retaliation forced Afghan Taliban militants to abandon multiple posts and flee, Express News reported. Security sources quoted by the outlet said Pakistani forces maintained complete control of the border areas and were keeping the situation under continuous watch. The sources added that troops are fully prepared and on high alert to respond decisively to any further provocation by the other side.
The report did not provide any casualty figures for either side, and the Pakistan Army had not yet issued an official statement at the time of filing. Express News based its account entirely on unnamed security sources. It was not immediately clear how many posts were destroyed or how many militants were involved in the infiltration attempt. The Kurram sector is part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and lies along Pakistan's western border with Afghanistan, an area that has seen previous cross-border security incidents.
