Adil Waseem was shot at near Jalozai Panah Kot on Cherat Road while travelling to Peshawar, and is stable at Lady Reading Hospital, police and hospital officials said.

Mansehra's assistant commissioner, Adil Waseem, was injured on Saturday when unidentified gunmen opened fire on his official vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Nowshera district, police said.
Waseem was returning from Saleh Khana, his native village, and travelling towards Peshawar when the firing began, according to Dawn, which reported that the village lies in Nowshera district. Daily Times reported that the shooting took place near Jalozai Panah Kot on Cherat Road. Police confirmed the attack and said the vehicle targeted belonged to the assistant commissioner.
He was taken to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar in an injured condition. Muhammad Asim, the hospital's spokesperson, said Waseem was "stable" and receiving medical treatment, Dawn reported.
A first information report was registered after the attack, according to Dawn. Daily Times reported that police had launched an investigation and were searching for those responsible. No arrests had been announced, and police did not disclose how many attackers were involved or what their motive was.
Officials have released no further security details about the incident. Daily Times reported that the investigation was expected to establish the circumstances of the attack.
Waseem's vehicle was attacked in Nowshera, a district adjoining Peshawar, while he was travelling from his family's village. Mansehra, the district he administers as assistant commissioner, lies in the Hazara division.
The two outlets spelt the officer's name differently. Dawn gave it as Adil Waseem, and Daily Times as Adil Wasim.
