Authorities in Astore have begun monitoring petrol pumps to check implementation of the Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Scheme, UrduPoint reported on Wednesday. The district administration has not yet released details of the checks.

The report said the monitoring was under way across Astore, where petrol stations are being watched as the federal government's discounted fuel initiative takes effect. It did not name the officials involved or state how many pumps had been inspected.

In a separate report the same day, UrduPoint said Assistant Commissioner Sohawa visited various petrol pumps in Jhelum to review the supply of discounted petrol under the same scheme. The visits in Punjab were also described as part of the Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Scheme.

The two reports together indicate that local administrations in at least two districts, one in Gilgit-Baltistan and one in Punjab, are checking that fuel stations are passing the relief to consumers. Neither report provided figures for the discount, the number of pumps found compliant, or any violations detected.

The Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Scheme is a federal initiative. Under the programme, discounted petrol is supplied to consumers, and district administrations are tasked with monitoring its implementation. Further details from Astore and Sohawa were not immediately available.
