CDA gives Fazlur Rehman 15 days to remove illegal construction

The Capital Development Authority has given JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman 15 days to remove what it calls illegal construction at his Islamabad residence, warning that demolition, sealing and the cancellation of the plot's allotment are all possible.

The notice is dated October 30, 2026 and covers Plot No. 07, Street No. 83, Sector G-6/4. ProPakistani reported that it was issued by the CDA's Directorate of Building Control (City).

Three violations are listed: an unauthorised guard post, a generator installed on land owned by the CDA, and construction inside mandatory building setbacks. The notice directs both the owner and the occupant to clear the violations within 15 days.

The owner filed an affidavit on March 18, 2019, undertaking to remove the setback violations within three months and to comply with CDA regulations, according to the notice. The authority says those violations were never resolved.

CDA warned that failure to comply could bring proceedings under the CDA Ordinance and the Islamabad Capital Territory Building Control Regulations. Possible action, it said, includes sealing or demolishing the unauthorised structures and starting proceedings to cancel the allotment.

The reports published on Friday did not carry a response from Fazlur Rehman or the JUI-F.

Separately, Minute Mirror reported that Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry told reporters at Parliament House that discussion of Fazlur Rehman's remarks about martyrs and the state cannot move forward until the JUI-F chief explains them himself. Chaudhry said leaders of the party had been offering explanations on his behalf, but the matter needed a direct response, and that the remarks would be remembered as part of the country's political history.

Chaudhry said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had so far said very little on the issue and would speak further when the right opportunity came. He said disagreements between political parties should not cost anyone constitutional, legal or human rights, and rejected suggestions that the government was neglecting requests for medical treatment and meetings for women, noting that the Senate opposition leader had filed further requests.
