Court voids badminton federation elections, orders fresh vote in 90 days
The Islamabad High Court also set up an ad-hoc committee led by the inter-provincial coordination ministry's additional secretary to run the federation until a new body takes charge.

The Islamabad High Court has declared the Pakistan Badminton Federation's elections of 24 October 2025 illegal and ordered the federation to hold new elections within 90 days.
The court directed the Pakistan Sports Board to notify an election commission and conduct the polls under Rule 17 of its constitution, Express News reported. The process runs from the announcement of the election schedule to the declaration of results, and the whole of it must be completed inside the 90 days.
The court also ordered an ad-hoc committee to be set up for the period until the election process is finished. The additional secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination will head the committee. The director of the National Sports Federations and the Pakistan Sports Board will sit on it as members.
One former badminton champion from each of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan will also be included in the committee.
UrduPoint reported the same ruling, stating in its headline that the high court had declared the federation's elections illegal and ordered new elections within 90 days.
The committee will run the federation's day-to-day affairs until the new body takes charge, Express News reported.
How the reports differ
UrduPoint's headline reported the ruling and the 90-day order for fresh elections, without naming the ad-hoc committee or its members. Express News carried the same ruling and added the mechanism: that the Pakistan Sports Board must notify an election commission and hold the polls under Rule 17 of its constitution, with the full process from schedule to results inside 90 days. Express News alone gave the committee's composition, naming the additional secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination as its head, the director of the National Sports Federations and the Pakistan Sports Board as members, and one former champion from each of the four provinces.
