Skardu Times itself has no accounts, no comments, no advertising and no analytics, and sets no cookies.

Like every website, the server that delivers these pages keeps routine technical logs (the address a request came from, the page asked for and the time) so the site can be kept running and protected from abuse. They are not used to build a profile of anyone.

Story pages load a script from Google News that connects the paper with Google News and may show Google’s own prompts, such as a short survey or a sign-up for news by email. Google may set its own cookies, and anything you choose to share in those prompts goes to Google, under Google’s privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).

Story pictures are shown from the servers of the newsrooms that published them, as credited under each picture. Your browser asks those servers for the picture directly and tells them nothing about which page you were reading.

The share buttons are plain links. Nothing is sent to WhatsApp, X or Facebook unless you click one, and then their own privacy policies apply. The same is true of every link to another site.

If you email the desk, we keep your message and address only to answer you and to act on what you asked, such as a correction.

If the site ever starts collecting more than this, this page will say so before it does.
