Police in Dera Ismail Khan arrested a man during snap checking and recovered 1,015 grams of charas, a quantity of methamphetamine and weapons from him, Express News reported, presenting the operation as part of a drive against criminals following the imposition of governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The suspect was named in the report as Wajid Zeb, son of Noshirwan, of the Masud tribe, a resident of Waziristan currently living in Wandah Baloch. A case was registered, the outlet said. The report quoted the district's DSP as saying that action against criminal elements would continue without discrimination after governor's rule, but did not name him.

Neither Express News nor UrduPoint, which also published a report on governor's rule in the province, gave the date on which it took effect, the order under which it was imposed or its terms; both treated it as settled background. Governor's rule in a province is provided for under Article 234 of the Constitution, under which the President may take over the functions of a provincial government on a report from the governor or otherwise.

Express News also reported that the Peshawar district administration had sealed a warehouse in Qaziabad holding tea leaves unfit for consumption. It said the action was taken on the special instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Peshawar and that a large quantity of banned chemicals and tea leaves was recovered. The report did not say whether anyone was arrested or a case registered.

UrduPoint's report was headlined "Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's mines and governor's rule: questions raised on transparency". Its contents were not immediately available.

Skardu Times could not independently confirm from either report that governor's rule had been imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, or obtain the terms of any such order. The Express News report also carried several unrelated items under the same headline, none of which it linked to the police operations.
