Ground broken for snow leopard research centre in Gojal
The Passu Development Organisation is building the Snow Leopard and Mountain Biodiversity and Research Centre with support from WWF-Pakistan and WWF-Italy.
Ground was broken on Wednesday in Gojal, Gilgit-Baltistan, for a new research and education centre focused on snow leopards and mountain ecosystems, Dawn reported. The Snow Leopard and Mountain Biodiversity and Research Centre is being built by the Passu Development Organisation with support from WWF-Pakistan and WWF-Italy.
The centre will serve as a hub for scientific research, environmental education and community engagement, according to the report. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Hammad Naqi, director general of WWF-Pakistan, and Karim, president of the local development organisation.
Dawn did not provide further details on the project's cost, timeline or expected completion date.
