HEC opens US PhD scholarships at top 100 universities
Two funding tiers cover tuition, stipend and health insurance, with deadlines in October 2026 and March 2027 for the 2027 intakes.

The Higher Education Commission has invited applications for fully funded PhD scholarships at top-ranked universities in the United States under the US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor Project, with separate deadlines for the Spring/Summer and Fall 2027 intakes.
According to the commission's announcement, the awards are for doctoral study at universities placed in the top 100 of the QS World University Rankings. The Associated Press of Pakistan reported the scheme in a brief notice, while ARY News carried the funding tiers and application dates.
The scholarships are divided into two categories. ARY News reported that students admitted to universities ranked in the top 50 will have their full tuition fee covered, along with an annual stipend of USD 19,000 and USD 2,000 for health insurance. For universities ranked 51 to 100, the award covers tuition of up to USD 12,000 per year, together with a stipend and health insurance coverage; the announcement did not specify the stipend amount for this category.
HEC has set two application deadlines. For the Spring/Summer 2027 intake, candidates must apply by October 30, 2026. For the Fall 2027 intake, applications will be accepted until March 30, 2027.
Candidates have been asked to apply online through the commission's scholarship portal at scholarship.hec.gov.pk. Details on eligibility criteria, fields of study and the application procedure are available at hec.gov.pk/site/US-PAK-KC.
According to the announcement, the US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor Project was launched as a flagship initiative to strengthen academic links between the two countries and to build Pakistan's human resources by providing advanced research training at leading American universities. HEC urged prospective applicants to use the opportunity and to apply on time.
Neither the APP notice nor the ARY News report stated how many scholarships are on offer, the total value of the programme, or whether particular disciplines are being prioritised. Those details are not given in either account and are expected to be set out in the scheme documents on the HEC website.
The announcement is one of a series of overseas scholarship programmes run by the commission, which handles overseas funding for Pakistani students alongside its domestic scholarship schemes.
