Hina Javed's family rejects new police probe, seeks judicial commission
Brother Fahad Javed writes to the National Assembly interior committee after police offer to transfer the murder investigation to another district.

The family of Hina Javed, a 45-year-old woman found dead in her Rawalpindi apartment, has rejected a police offer of a fresh investigation and renewed its demand for a judicial commission, ARY News reported.
Hina's brother, Fahad Javed, wrote to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior to press the demand, according to ARY News. The family has now expressed distrust in the police investigation for a third time.
The Ministry of Interior had proposed transferring the inquiry to another district. Senior Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Saif Ullah then contacted the family and advised them to file a formal application for a re-investigation. ARY News reported that under the law an investigation can be transferred only once or twice and cannot be changed indefinitely, and that repeated changes to investigating teams create difficulties for legal teams. A high-level legal team is reviewing the family's new demands daily, the outlet said.
Hina was found dead in the bathroom of her home at Askari Apartments in the Lalkurti area, within the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station. Police have arrested her husband, Faisal Asghar, and a domestic worker, Zeeshan, in connection with the death.
According to the FIR registered on Fahad Javed's complaint, her hands were tied behind her back, a cloth was stuffed into her mouth and a wire was tied around her neck. The FIR alleges she was severely tortured before death and names her husband, her father-in-law and the domestic worker. Hina married Faisal Asghar, son of retired Colonel Asghar Ali Fayyaz, in November 2025.
Fahad Javed told police he received a call from Asghar Fayyaz, who reported an emergency and asked him to come to the house. He went with his father-in-law, Major (retd.) Chan Zeb, and found Hina dead in the bathroom, according to the FIR.
The family suspects Hina may have been given a poisonous substance before her death, and Fahad Javed alleged the suspects tried to present the killing as a suicide. The FIR also alleges Faisal Asghar had mistreated Hina before, and that his first wife had obtained a divorce over alleged domestic violence.
Police said evidence had been collected from the scene and that all aspects of the case were being investigated.
The family has voiced concern that the father-in-law has not been arrested and demanded his immediate arrest. In a statement, it asked Punjab Police and the authorities to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation free of influence, pressure or delay, and said anyone who enabled, concealed or took part in the crime should be held accountable under the law.
