Indian strategy undermines South Asian security, official says
A senior Strategic Plans Division official linked India's behaviour to Hindutva nationalism at a Gilgit discussion, Dawn reported.

India's strategic conduct is weakening security in South Asia, a senior official of Pakistan's Strategic Plans Division said at a gathering in Gilgit, Dawn reported on Friday.
Retired Maj Gen Syed Shahab Shahid, director general of Arms Control and Disarmament Affairs at the SPD, said the current Indian leadership is driven by an ultra-nationalist Hindutva ideology. He linked India's strategic approach to that ideology, according to the report.
The discussion in Gilgit also heard experts call for a broader definition of strategic stability, one that extends beyond military power. They said rapid developments in military and other technologies make the wider framework necessary.
Dawn did not include further remarks from the event in the portion of the report available to Skardu Times. The newspaper's standfirst said the experts linked India's behaviour to risks for the entire region. The report appeared under the headline 'Indian strategy threatens South Asian security: experts.'
