Islamabad police report 32 percent fall in crime calls
Calls logged by the capital's police dropped from 6,506 to 4,444 between 1 January and 25 October, compared with the same period last year, according to ICT Police.

Crime-related calls to Islamabad police fell 32 percent between 1 January and 25 October 2026 compared with the same period last year, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police said, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.
The force logged 4,444 crime-related calls in the period, down from 6,506 in the corresponding months of 2025. APP put the reduction at 2,062 calls.
Police said the decline was recorded across several categories, including robbery, snatching and vehicle theft. The reports did not give figures for individual categories, so the size of the fall in each type of crime could not be established.
UrduPoint also reported the 32 percent year-on-year decline, citing the police figures.
The comparison covers the same ten-month window in each year, but the reports did not state whether the figures count only calls made to the police helpline or include complaints lodged at stations in person. They also did not give the total number of crime-related calls registered in the full year 2025, which would allow a reader to place the 2026 figure in a longer trend.
The numbers were released as a measure of demand on police response rather than as a count of registered first information reports. A fall in calls can reflect fewer incidents, but it can equally reflect victims choosing not to ring the police, or a change in how the force logs incoming complaints; the reports did not address which of these applied.
ICT Police has not published a district-level or station-level breakdown alongside the headline figure. Islamabad is policed as a single capital territory command, which covers the city's urban sectors as well as the rural areas towards the Margalla foothills and the Islamabad Expressway corridor.
No statement from the federal interior ministry accompanied the police figures, and no independent verification of the numbers was available. The figures as published cover the period up to 25 October and do not include the last week of the ten-month window.
