KP notifies monetised transport allowance for judicial officers
Provincial finance department says the cash allowance takes effect from October 1 after cabinet approval on August 28.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formally notified the monetisation of transport allowance for judicial officers in the province, Dawn reported on Friday. The provincial finance department issued the notification, setting October 1, 2026 as the date the new arrangement takes effect.
The notification states that the move is being made in pursuance of a decision taken by the provincial cabinet at its meeting on August 28, 2026. It applies to judicial officers in both cadre and ex-cadre posts, according to the report.
Dawn said the measure is in line with the decision of the National Judicial Policy Making Committee, the body that sets administrative policy for the courts. The published text of the notification did not include the monthly cash amount for each rank. It began listing the rate for a district and sessions judge, but the excerpt ended there.
The finance department issued the notification after the cabinet approval, the report said. No further details were immediately available on how the monetised allowance will be calculated, whether it replaces existing transport facilities or fuel reimbursements, or how many judicial officers will be affected.
Monetisation generally converts a non-cash benefit, such as a vehicle or fuel allowance, into a fixed monthly payment. Dawn's report did not specify whether the KP notification sets different amounts for different grades or a single flat rate for all ranks.
The provincial cabinet's August 28 decision was followed by the finance department's formal notification, which is the legal instrument that puts the policy into effect. The notification has been reported as covering cadre and ex-cadre judicial officers, a distinction that refers to whether an officer belongs to the provincial judicial service or holds a post on an acting or deputation basis. Dawn reported that the document was issued by the finance department and that it cites the cabinet decision. The report did not say whether the new cash allowance is in addition to existing salary or replaces another allowance.
The story was also carried by the news aggregator Ua.News under a similar headline. No official statement from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was immediately available to confirm the details. Skardu Times could not independently verify the notification.
