Millat Group to enter Pakistan electric bike market

Millat Group of Industries, the parent company of Millat Tractors Limited, will enter Pakistan's electric two-wheeler market next month with a new range of electric bikes and scooters, ProPakistani reported on 23 September.

Group Director Murad Ansari was quoted as saying that a dedicated EV production facility is complete and that commercial production and launch preparations are under way. He said the two-wheelers will focus on quality, reliability, long-lasting batteries and competitive pricing, with options for buyers across different income groups. The range will include models with swappable battery technology, which the company says gives customers greater convenience and flexibility. Swappable batteries allow riders to replace a depleted battery instead of waiting for a charge.

Plans call for rapid localisation of components, spare parts and after-sales support, drawing on the company's decades of local tractor manufacturing. ProPakistani reported that this is intended to cut import dependence and reduce supply-chain disruption. Millat is setting up a dedicated EV dealership network and will also use the existing Millat Tractors infrastructure of more than 700 dealerships and workshops across the country for service, spare parts and customer support. The company says localising production will help ensure that spare parts and service are available to buyers.

Ansari said the objective is not only to introduce electric two-wheelers but to build a sustainable, locally supported EV ecosystem in Pakistan. The group's automotive experience also includes working with Hyundai Nishat in the assembly and manufacturing of Hyundai vehicles in Pakistan. Millat described the EV initiative as a new chapter that brings its manufacturing expertise, localisation capabilities and nationwide aftermarket infrastructure into Pakistan's growing electric mobility sector.

The report did not give pricing or model names. Separately, the Associated Press of Pakistan circulated a photo this week showing a vendor displaying electric bikes and solar panels outside his shop on Station Road.
