Peechay Hutt Joins Netflix Film Soundtrack
The Coke Studio Season 14 track, sung by Hasan Raheem, appears in Lena Khan's dance comedy alongside music by BLACKPINK and A.R. Rahman.

Coke Studio track Peechay Hutt has been included in the soundtrack of Netflix's new dance comedy Best of the Best, music producer Xulfi announced on Instagram on Wednesday.
The song was originally released in February 2022 as part of Coke Studio Season 14, with vocals by Hasan Raheem and Justin Bibis. Talal Qureshi handled production, while Raheem wrote the track and developed its narrative with Xulfi, Daily Times reported. The song is built around its repeated "Peechay Hutt" hook and combines Raheem's vocals, the Bibis' chorus and Qureshi's electronic production.
Xulfi, who led Coke Studio, said the placement in a Hollywood production was significant for Pakistani music and cultural representation. He said music helps shape how people around the world understand a country, its identity and its journey, and called the film's use of the song another step toward a global audience, according to Minute Mirror.
Directed by Lena Khan, Best of the Best stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Maya and Priyanka Kedia as Anjali. The two friends join their university's Bollywood-fusion dance team and compete for a place in a United States championship. Daily Times reported that the team is at UCLA and that Hasan Minhaj, who co-wrote the film with Prashanth Venkataramanujam according to Minute Mirror, also appears as Professor Hamza Latif. The film follows the characters' friendship, ambition and South Asian cultural experience, Minute Mirror said. Netflix began streaming the film on September 18.
The soundtrack pairs Peechay Hutt with music by BLACKPINK, ENHYPEN, Hanumankind and A.R. Rahman, according to Daily Times. The official video for Peechay Hutt had already passed 28 million YouTube views.
The Netflix placement follows another milestone for Xulfi: Pasoori, which he also curated and produced, became the first Pakistani music video to cross one billion views on YouTube, Minute Mirror reported.
Best of the Best has drawn criticism over a joke referencing the 2021 United States evacuation from Kabul, with critics saying the line trivialised the trauma, Minute Mirror added.
