PTA Names Amir Shehzad as Enforcement Director General
The retired brigadier moves from DG Licensing to lead the regulator's enforcement wing with immediate effect.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has named Brigadier (Retired) Amir Shehzad as its new Director General of Enforcement, moving him from the regulator's licensing wing to lead enforcement with immediate effect, according to reports by technology news outlets TechJuice and ProPakistani.
Both outlets reported that the PTA chairman assigned Shehzad the enforcement portfolio. Shehzad had been serving as Director General Licensing, a role in which he was responsible for the authority's licensing operations. The reports did not state a reason for the transfer or name a replacement for the licensing division.
In his new position, Shehzad has been tasked with strengthening the authority's enforcement system and improving the quality of telecom services for consumers, according to the reports. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority is the federal regulator for the country's telecommunications sector, overseeing mobile operators, internet services, and the enforcement of licensing and consumer protection rules.
Speaking about the appointment, Shehzad described the DG Enforcement role as important and challenging. He said he would work to meet the expectations of the government, the PTA and telecom consumers. He added that consumer expectations would remain a key consideration as he carries out his new responsibilities.
TechJuice reported that Shehzad made the remarks after the appointment was announced. ProPakistani also carried his comments, quoting him as saying the post was challenging and that he would keep consumer expectations central to his work. The two outlets did not report any other changes in PTA's senior management or any immediate enforcement priorities.
The appointment places a retired military officer at the head of a division that handles regulatory compliance across Pakistan's telecom market. Neither outlet provided further details about the circumstances of the transfer.
