Two children killed as wedding bus hits tractor-trolley in Peshawar

Two children were killed and 13 people, including women and children, were injured when a bus carrying wedding guests collided with a tractor-trolley in the Safen area of Budh Bher in Peshawar on Thursday, according to Rescue 1122. The Express Tribune reported the same toll of two children killed and 13 injured in the crash in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The rescue service said it dispatched four ambulances and medical teams to the scene after receiving reports of the collision, and that its personnel provided emergency assistance to those hurt.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi said 15 injured people received first aid at the site. Eight of them, including women and children, were subsequently transported to hospital for further treatment.

According to the preliminary information shared by the rescue service, two children later died in hospital. Officials had not released the identities of the deceased.

The circumstances that led to the collision remained unclear on Thursday. It was not immediately known where the wedding party was travelling from or to, or how many people were on the bus at the time. Rescue teams continued relief and rescue operations at the site as further details were awaited.

The casualty figures carried in both reports of the crash were sourced to Rescue 1122. No separate account from police or district administration officials had been issued by Thursday evening.

The eight patients moved to hospital were described by the service as requiring treatment beyond the first aid given at the site. The dead and injured were taken from the scene by the rescue service's own ambulances, sent along with medical teams immediately after the collision was reported.

Safen lies in the Budh Bher area on the outskirts of Peshawar, where farm vehicles and passenger transport share the road. Details of the vehicles involved, the point of impact and the direction each was travelling were not given in the reports.

The two children who died were among those injured in the collision and were pronounced dead after being brought to hospital, the rescue service said. Their ages were not disclosed.
