CDA approves Rs24.5bn 11th Avenue project, three sports arenas
The Capital Development Authority's working party cleared the road from Margalla Avenue to IJP Road and arenas in F-8, D-12 and G-11.

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority’s Development Working Party (CDA-DWP) has cleared a Rs24.5 billion plan to build 11th Avenue from Margalla Avenue to IJP Road, along with three sports arenas in three separate sectors of the federal capital, Dawn reported on Thursday.
The road project was approved as a PC-I worth Rs24.5 billion. In the same meeting, the working party also cleared PC-Is totalling around Rs1 billion for sports arenas in F-8, D-12 and G-11.
According to the CDA, once the projects begin they are to be completed within one year. Dawn said the approved arenas will include swimming pools and indoor facilities, though the report did not provide a full breakdown of the indoor components or the number of facilities in each site.
The 11th Avenue corridor will connect Margalla Avenue, which runs along the northern side of Islamabad, with IJP Road, a heavily used route along the boundary with Rawalpindi. The three sports arenas are intended for residential sectors F-8, D-12 and G-11, areas that already have significant housing but limited public sports infrastructure.
The CDA-DWP is the authority’s internal body that vets development proposals and approves their planning documents before implementation can move forward. The decision on Thursday is a procedural step that clears the way for detailed design, tendering and construction.
Skardu Times could not independently verify the approvals beyond the reports carried by Dawn and syndicated outlets. No further details on funding sources, timelines for construction start, or contractor arrangements were available in the material reviewed.
