Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) said its environment wing on Tuesday foiled an attempt to encroach on national park land in Bhara Kahu, an area the authority identifies as Forest 8. According to a report by Dawn, the authority removed fresh encroachment on state land and suspended two officials for their alleged involvement or negligence.

Sources in the CDA told Dawn that a boundary wall was being constructed on the state land in broad daylight. The construction activity continued for the last three days before the authority took action, the sources said. The report did not identify the people behind the construction or say how much land was affected.

Bhara Kahu lies at the edge of the Margalla Hills National Park, which is protected land. The CDA's environment wing is responsible for preventing illegal construction in the capital's green areas.

Dawn also reported that a similar attempt was made in a nearby area in January this year. No further details of that earlier incident were provided. Al Sadat Marketing, a property news platform, also carried the story, saying the CDA had stopped a new encroachment attempt on national park land in Bhara Kahu, but it offered no additional facts.

The CDA has not issued an official statement naming the two suspended officials or saying whether further legal action will be taken against them. The Dawn report was published on Wednesday, a day after the operation.
