Islamabad Model Jail to open next month after 15-year delay
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reviewed the long-pending project and directed officials to complete all remaining work without delay.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry held a meeting on 24 September to review the Islamabad Model Jail project, which has been pending for 15 years. According to the Associated Press of Pakistan, the ministers examined the ongoing work in detail.
Naqvi directed the officials concerned to finish all remaining work without any further delay. He also decided that the facility would be inaugurated next month, though the exact date was not announced.
The long-delayed project is now being treated as a priority by the interior ministry. The meeting reviewed the current status of construction and the tasks that still need to be completed before the prison can open.
The decision to open the jail next month comes after years of delays that left the capital without the model prison it was promised, APP reported.
