Israel's Joint List to recommend Eisenkot form government
The announcement follows a similar recommendation from Mansour Abbas's United Arab List, Haaretz reports.

The Joint List said it will recommend Eisenkot to form Israel's next government, Haaretz reported, after Mansour Abbas's United Arab List put forward the same name.
Haaretz reported the Joint List's decision as an announcement by the party and presented it as following the United Arab List, which Mansour Abbas leads. Neither the timing of the recommendations nor the number of legislators behind each party was given in the report.
The Haaretz headline said the Joint List acted "following Abbas' UAL", placing the two announcements in sequence. No statement from Eisenkot, from either party's offices or from the Israeli president's office accompanied the report.
The two parties are the first named in the report as backing Eisenkot for the task of assembling a governing majority. Haaretz did not say what response the recommendation had drawn, or whether other parties had made or would make competing nominations.
Israel's president formally asks a candidate to try to build a coalition after parties declare whom they support. The report did not say at what stage that process stands.
