Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the Green Bus service in Attock on Tuesday. A fleet of 15 buses runs on three routes across the city, ARY News reported.

Students performed the inauguration at her invitation, after which she inspected an electric bus, according to ARY News.

ARY News reported that thousands of people came out to welcome her at Peer Lane, which the outlet described as the city's largest bazaar. A traditional Dhachi dance was performed to greet her, young people and shopkeepers threw flower petals over her car, and rose petals were spread along the streets as women and children walked beside it. Both outlets described the reception as warm.

The bazaar has been upgraded with tuff tiles, streetlights and library booths, ARY News reported. The outlet did not say what the work cost or when it was completed.

According to ARY News, the buses are meant to give residents access to modern public transport. Its report did not name the three routes or give the fare, and neither report gave the cost of the vehicles.

Daily Independent reported that Maryam Nawaz also inaugurated road projects in Attock worth Rs23 billion. It published the claim as a headline without a full report, and gave no details of the schemes, the length of road involved or the roads covered.

ARY News's account of the visit did not mention road projects or the Rs23 billion figure.

Attock district lies in northern Punjab, where the province meets Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

How the reports differ

ARY News led with the welcome and the Green Bus launch, naming the 15 buses and the three routes, and it alone described the bazaar upgrade and the Dhachi dance. Daily Independent's headline led with Rs23 billion of road projects in Attock, a figure ARY News's report did not carry, and named no road or scheme. Neither outlet gave a fare, a route list or a cost for the buses.
