Air Link launches AirV electric bikes, 11 models built in Lahore
The listed company says the bikes run up to 200 km on a charge and will be assembled at its Lahore plant, while senators press for a delayed auto policy.

Air Link Communication Limited launched an electric bike brand, AirV, at a ceremony in Lahore on November 4, 2026, with 11 models across six series. The bikes are being assembled at the company's existing plant in the Sundar Green Special Economic Zone in Lahore.
The company said the models offer a range of up to 200 kilometres on a charge, depending on the variant. ProPakistani reported that the bikes carry cruise control, regenerative battery technology, near field communication (NFC) and anti-theft systems.
Air Link, listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange as AIRLINK, said the venture is part of a diversification strategy that draws on its manufacturing capacity and nationwide distribution network. AirV will sell to individual buyers and to corporate customers, the company said, and it plans to build a scalable electric mobility business.
The launch came as a Senate committee questioned why the country's auto policy has still not been approved. The Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production met at Parliament House under Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, with Senators Khalida Ateeb, Husna Bano and Anusha Rahman attending, Minute Mirror reported.
Officials told the committee the draft policy would go to the Ministry of Finance and be shared with the International Monetary Fund. Members said the delay was leaving the automobile industry uncertain.
Electric two- and three-wheeler output rose from 7,345 units in 2021-22 to 210,268 units in 2025-26, the committee was told. More than 290,000 electric bikes have been built locally by over 85 licensed assemblers. Pakistan works to the National Electric Vehicle Policy 2020 and the Auto Industry Development and Export Policy 2021-26, which set a target of 30 percent electric vehicles by 2030 across motorcycles, three-wheelers, cars and buses.
Customs duty is 15 percent on completely knocked down kits that are not localised and 46 percent on localised kits, with 1 percent on some electric vehicle components. Batteries, motors, converters and chargers carry 1 percent duty until June 30, 2027. Locally assembled electric two- and three-wheelers pay 1 percent sales tax, while imported units have a sales tax waiver.
Senator Anusha Rahman asked regulators to take a stronger role in policy and to make manufacturers provide technical training, citing China's practice of linking vocational centres to electric vehicle plants. The committee said manufacturers should set up training facilities and update courses with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission before they receive commercial licences. Members also recommended sending the team working on the export policy to China to inspect training facilities, and said local industry representatives should be included in policy discussions.
How the reports differ
ProPakistani reported only the launch, with the model count, range and features supplied by Air Link, and made no mention of the Senate committee. Minute Mirror reported only the committee's review, with production figures, duty rates and training proposals, and did not name AirV. The two reports cover separate events, so their figures cannot be checked against each other.
