Mobile and internet suspension expected ahead of Islamabad long march
Authorities ordered indefinite closure of M1, M14 and GT Road from Wednesday night, while no formal PTA notification has been issued.

The federal government has begun preparations for a long march on Islamabad led by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, scheduled for September 27, and is expected to suspend mobile and internet services in districts near the federal capital and Rawalpindi, according to TechJuice. No formal notification has been issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, and no reports of slow internet or weak mobile signals had emerged as of Tuesday.
TechJuice said the expected suspension would cover districts adjacent to Islamabad and Rawalpindi, though it did not list which ones.
As part of those preparations, the government ordered an indefinite closure of the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M1), the Islamabad-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway (M14), also known as the CPEC route, and the Grand Trunk Road (N5), effective from Wednesday evening. A spokesperson for the National Highways and Motorway Police said the closures would take effect from Wednesday night.
The NHMP statement said the M1 would remain shut to all traffic in both directions between Islamabad Toll Plaza and Chhachh Interchange. The M14 would be closed between Hakla and Kundal in both directions, while the N5 would be closed to all traffic in both directions at Attock Khurd.
TechJuice reported that the road closures and the expected suspension of mobile and internet services were part of the federal government's response to the march, although the report did not name the chief minister or the party behind the protest. The National Highways and Motorway Police did not say when the roads would reopen, describing the closure as indefinite. The closures cover the main road links between Islamabad and Peshawar, Islamabad and Dera Ismail Khan, and the Grand Trunk Road near Attock.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has separately appointed retired Brigadier Amir Shehzad as director general enforcement, transferring him to the role. That appointment was announced separately and was not linked to the march.
