Opposition leaders meet at Fazl's Islamabad residence on KP emergency
JUI-F's statement named Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and PTI leaders as participants; JUI-F and TTAP will form committees and press on with a multi-party conference.

Opposition leaders met at the Islamabad residence of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday to discuss the imposition of emergency and governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and agreed to strengthen their alliance and parliamentary coordination.
A statement issued by JUI-F on social media said the National Assembly opposition leader, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the Senate opposition leader, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, and senior Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders attended the meeting. The statement described the gathering as a meeting of opposition leaders in both houses of parliament.
Dawn reported that the participants took up several matters, including the emergency and governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. After the meeting, the paper reported, JUI-F and TTAP decided to form committees to resolve mutual differences and to take forward consultations on a multi-party conference.
Dawn reported before the meeting that the leaders were arriving at Fazl's residence for discussions on the emergency and governor's rule in KP. Its report filed after the meeting added the decisions on the committees and on the multi-party conference.
The News International reported that JUI-F's Sindh chapter condemned drone surveillance of Fazl's residence. The report gave no further detail of the surveillance.
The reports carried no statement from the federal government or from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor's office on the meeting.
How the reports differ
Dawn's two reports differ in what they establish: the earlier one said the leaders were arriving at Fazl's residence to discuss the emergency and governor's rule, while the later one reported the decisions to form committees and to continue consultations on a multi-party conference. The News International led instead on JUI-F's Sindh chapter condemning drone surveillance of Fazl's residence, a development Dawn's reports did not carry.
