Pakistani cricketers holding contracts for the Abu Dhabi T10 League have not received no-objection certificates from the Pakistan Cricket Board, with the tenth edition of the tournament due to begin at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on November 7.

ProPakistani reported that the PCB has asked the league's organisers to pay $10,000 for each Pakistani player seeking clearance. The board has not publicly confirmed the demand, and no PCB official is quoted in the report.

According to the same report, league management has told the players they can take part if they meet the fee out of their contracts, and that franchises may replace those who do not. A Sports reported that Pakistani players were still awaiting the certificates, citing sources, and did not give a figure.

Six teams play the tournament, which runs to November 20: UAE Bulls, Yas Lions, Royal Desert Champions, Emirates Eagles, United Tigers and Arabian Aces.

United Tigers signed Fakhar Zaman directly, and Abbas Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem, Iftikhar Ahmed and Faheem Ashraf are also with the franchise. UAE Bulls picked Shadab Khan, Khushdil Shah, Khawaja Nafay, Azam Khan, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Wasim Jr. Naseem Shah will play for Royal Desert Champions, Emirates Eagles signed Hasan Nawaz, Aqif Javed and Ali Raza, Salman Irshad joined Arabian Aces, and Haider Ali is also expected to feature.

Franchises have pressed their Pakistani players to secure the clearance before the opening matches.

The PCB normally allows players to appear in two or three overseas leagues a season. ProPakistani reported that the board made a similar demand before the Nepal Premier League, asking $25,000 per player for clearance there.

The report did not say whether any player has paid the amount.

How the reports differ

ProPakistani alone reported the $10,000 per player demand, the earlier $25,000 figure attached to the Nepal Premier League, and the full list of franchises and their Pakistani signings. A Sports reported only that Pakistani players were awaiting no-objection certificates, attributed to sources, and carried no fee. Neither outlet quoted a Pakistan Cricket Board official.
