Police say woman hanged herself after strangling daughter in Bajaur
Officers in War Mamond tehsil say the woman, who has not been identified, killed the girl inside their home on Saturday before taking her own life.

BAJAUR: A woman allegedly strangled her minor daughter and then hanged herself at their home in the hilly Wara Kharkai area of War Mamond tehsil in Bajaur district, police and local residents said.
The woman's identity has not been established, and police gave no reason for the deaths. The incident took place on Saturday, inside the house where the two were living.
A police official told Dawn that a team reached the spot after the police station received information about the deaths, and that the bodies were removed from the house. The area falls within the limits of War Mamond police station.
War Mamond is one of the tehsils of Bajaur, a district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that lies on the border with Afghanistan.
Dawn reported that the woman first killed the girl and then took her own life inside the home. The report did not say whether other members of the family were present at the time, and it did not name the child.
Police and area residents were the only sources for the account, published by the newspaper on Sunday. No separate police statement, FIR detail or hospital confirmation was available to Skardu Times.
No separate comment from the Bajaur district police or the district administration was available either.
The woman and the girl were the only two people named in the reports as having died. Police did not release their names, and Dawn said the older of the two could not be identified at the time it filed its report.
