PPL posts Rs99bn profit, record Rs284bn collections in FY26

Pakistan Petroleum Ltd (PPL) posted a profit after tax of Rs99 billion for FY26 and recorded its highest-ever collections of Rs284 billion, Dawn reported, citing the company's 75th annual general meeting.

A large number of shareholders attended the meeting, where the financial statements for FY26 were approved along with the auditors' and directors' reports, according to the report. A final cash dividend of 60 per cent on ordinary shares was also approved, bringing the total dividend for the year to 120 per cent.

Dawn's headline said the company made 11 discoveries during the year. Its account of the meeting said PPL drilled seven exploration wells and four development wells in FY26. The report did not set out which wells were counted as discoveries, and PPL's full statement was not available.

Average production stood at 649 million cubic feet per day, around 3 per cent higher than the year before, the report said.

PPL is one of the country's main oil and gas exploration and production companies, and its shares are traded on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. Its annual results are read as a measure of how much of the country's gas output is being replaced from domestic fields.

The report carried no comparison with the previous year's profit and no breakdown of the collections figure. It also did not carry a statement from PPL's chairman or managing director, and no separate company announcement was available at the time of filing.

The meeting was the company's 75th annual general meeting, a milestone for a business that has been listed and operating for more than seven decades.

Dividend announcements by listed energy companies are followed by small shareholders as well as institutional investors, because the payouts are approved at the same forum where the year's accounts are formally adopted.
