Islamabad ATC dismisses pre-arrest bail of Bushra Bibi and PTI leaders
The court rejected the pleas of leaders who stayed away from Thursday's hearing, while workers who appeared had their interim bail extended to February 11.

An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Thursday dismissed the pre-arrest bail applications of Bushra Bibi and several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders in cases registered in connection with protests, after the applicants failed to appear before the court.
Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqarnain heard a total of 250 bail applications filed by PTI leaders and workers in the protest cases, according to Minute Mirror, which reported that the court rejected the pleas of Bushra Bibi, Junaid Akbar, Latif Khosa, Naeem Panjutha, Asad Qaiser, Ali Zaman, Iman Waseem, Atif Khan and Fazal Muhammad.
The Associated Press of Pakistan reported the same dismissals and named Bushra Bibi, Asad Qaiser, Junaid Akbar, Latif Khosa and Naeem Haider Panjutha among those refused relief. It said the applications were dismissed because of the applicants' continued absence from the proceedings. Both reports agreed that non-appearance was the reason for the rejections.
Only Minute Mirror named the judge, put the number of applications before the court at 250, and listed the nine leaders whose pleas were turned down. Both outlets placed the hearing on Thursday.
PTI leaders Raoof Hasan and Shehryar Afridi appeared before the anti-terrorism court and marked their attendance, Minute Mirror reported. The court extended the interim bail of the PTI workers who presented themselves until February 11.
The orders leave those whose applications were dismissed without the protection of the pre-arrest bail they had sought in these cases. The court's decision applies to the applications before it; neither report said whether further applications were pending, or how the rejected leaders intend to proceed.
Neither report specified which protests the cases relate to, how many cases each of the leaders faces, or the sections under which they were registered. Neither carried a statement from PTI or from the prosecution.
Bushra Bibi is the wife of former prime minister Imran Khan. Asad Qaiser and Junaid Akbar are PTI lawmakers, and Latif Khosa and Naeem Haider Panjutha have represented the party in legal matters.
