Nine killed as Learjet 60 crashes into Florida neighbourhood
The jet was flying from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it came down near Palm Beach, about 11km from Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club.

Nine people were killed on Sunday when a Learjet 60 came down in a residential neighbourhood of Palm Beach County in southern Florida, about 11km from President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club, officials said.
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed that all nine people on board died. "Today's plane crash in Palm Beach County, Florida is a horrific tragedy," he said in a statement. The jet had departed from Austin, Texas, and was headed for the Bahamas, Duffy said.
The crash occurred near Cresthaven, a neighbourhood in Palm Beach County, according to the Singapore-based broadcaster CNA. Video clips posted to social media, which have not been verified, showed an aircraft coming down at a steep angle at high speed and setting off a large fireball, leaving a burning crater beside a busy road.
Storms had been reported in the area. CNA reported that Trump had been at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday and boarded Air Force One at the newly renamed President Donald J Trump International Airport at 11:55am local time, about an hour before the Learjet crashed. He carried an umbrella as he boarded.
The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board would investigate. Neither agency gave a possible cause in the statements reported so far, and officials did not say whether anyone on the ground was hurt.
News organisations reported the deaths with different emphasis on the same toll. Reuters reported that nine people had died in the crash, citing officials. Britain's BBC News led its report with a witness phrase, "Like a missile coming down", describing the jet's final descent. Australia's SBS called it a "horrific" crash in a US neighbourhood.
The Learjet 60 is a midsize business jet. The crash scattered debris across a populated area of Palm Beach County, one of Florida's most densely developed coastal counties, and emergency crews worked at the scene into the evening.
Trump's movements that day were being reported alongside the crash because of the proximity of the impact site to his private club and to the airport where he departed, both a short drive from Cresthaven.
