Oracle is seeking $20 billion from investors to finance its expansion in artificial intelligence, according to reports published by Reuters and CNA. Both outlets carried the same headline on the fundraising. Neither report's full text was available, and what they published did not set out the terms, the timing or the instrument used for the raise.

The AI developer Anthropic said on Monday that it plans to raise up to $3.5 billion in Japan as part of its initial public offering, Nikkei Asia reported. The fundraising, part of a planned listing on Nasdaq, the US exchange where most large technology companies trade, would be the largest in Japan by a foreign company, the Tokyo-based publication reported.

Nikkei Asia put the Japanese tranche at about 60 percent more than the amount US-based SpaceX raised in the country in June. It also reported that Anthropic's IPO could surpass SpaceX's to become the largest in history.

NDTV carried the Anthropic listing as a business headline, setting it against a ranking of the world's biggest public offerings. The Indian broadcaster did not publish the size or timing of the share sale in the material available.

Anthropic is one of a small group of US companies building large-scale artificial intelligence systems, a business that requires heavy spending on data centres and computing chips. Oracle's move is a request for outside capital rather than a share sale, on the reports available.

The reports did not specify the terms of Oracle's fundraising or a date for Anthropic's listing.
