Pakistan Railways plans upgrade of Karachi's Drigh Road station
Divisional superintendent Jamshed Alam reviewed the proposed design and ordered officials to finalise arrangements, with no cost or timeline disclosed.

KARACHI: Pakistan Railways has drawn up plans to upgrade Drigh Road Railway Station with modern passenger facilities, including improved parking, booking and reservation offices and waiting areas, according to a statement from its Karachi division carried by Business Recorder.
Divisional Superintendent Pakistan Railways Karachi Jamshed Alam, accompanied by divisional officers, visited the station to review its existing infrastructure, passenger facilities and operational arrangements and to assess the proposed modernisation plan.
Alam examined the proposed design for the station's renovation and modernisation during the visit, Business Recorder reported, and directed the officials concerned to finalise the necessary arrangements and take steps to implement the improvements at the earliest.
The divisional superintendent and the accompanying officers also inspected railway points and level crossings in and around the station, where they reviewed operational difficulties and infrastructure-related problems.
Discussions were held with relevant officials on measures to remove bottlenecks and to keep train operations safer, smoother and uninterrupted.
ProPakistani, citing ARY News, reported that the station will undergo renovation and modernisation and that Alam issued instructions for the implementation of the upgradation plan during the same visit.
Alam said providing quality and comfortable travel facilities to passengers was a priority, and that the station's upgradation would improve facilities for daily commuters, according to ProPakistani.
Neither report gave a cost estimate for the work, a start or completion date, or the number of passengers who use the station. The design approved for review has also not been made public in the accounts published by either outlet.
The station serves trains on the Karachi division network and sits close to points and crossings that the visiting officers identified as a source of operational difficulty. The review covered both the proposed rebuilding of passenger areas and the day-to-day running of trains through the station.
