Pakistan has sought technical cooperation from Turkiye on foot-and-mouth disease control and vaccine production, and a Turkish expert delegation will visit soon to explore how the two countries could work together, Dawn reported.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to pursue Turkish technical support for developing Pakistan's own capacity to manufacture an FMD vaccine, according to the report. The cooperation is tied to Pakistan's plan to establish disease-free zones and to widen its access to international meat markets.

Dawn named Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer in its account of the decision. The report carried no quotation from him.

Investify, another outlet carrying the story, led on the incoming delegation, describing it as a Turkish technical mission for local FMD vaccine production. Mettis Global led on the trade goal, headlining Pakistan's interest in disease-free zones and broader meat access.

None of the reports gave a date for the delegation's arrival, the number of experts expected, or a figure for the assistance.

FMD is a highly contagious viral disease of cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats and pigs, and outbreaks are a standing constraint on livestock trade. Disease-free zoning allows a country to export animals and meat from areas certified free of an infection even when it is present elsewhere in its territory, which is why the government has attached the vaccine plan to it.

Neither report said which Turkish agency or company would be involved, where in Pakistan the production capacity would be built, or whether the delegation's visit would be followed by a formal agreement. Dawn described the Turkish side as sending an expert-level mission rather than a ministerial one.

The request follows the prime minister's decision, reported by Dawn, to seek Turkiye's technical support rather than to buy vaccine ready-made. The ministry of national food security and research is the department named in the report in connection with the file.

How the reports differ

Dawn led with Pakistan's request for Turkish technical cooperation and the prime minister's decision to seek it. Investify led with the Turkish technical delegation due in Pakistan for local vaccine production. Mettis Global led with the export goal, headlining disease-free zones and wider meat access. None of the three reports gave a date, a delegation size or a figure for the assistance.
