Punjab police deploy 1,000-plus to guard polio teams
The four-day campaign's security cover was reported by APP for Punjab, while The Hindu put Karachi's deployment above 8,000 personnel.

Punjab police have deployed more than 1,000 officers and personnel to guard polio vaccination teams during a four-day anti-polio campaign, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported on 2 November.
The state news agency said the force had made comprehensive security arrangements to ensure the safety of the teams. It did not name the districts covered by the deployment, say how many vaccination teams are being escorted, or give the dates on which the campaign starts and ends.
In Karachi, more than 8,000 police personnel were assigned to protect polio teams, The Hindu reported. The Indian outlet's account carried no Sindh police statement, no breakdown by district, no number of vaccination teams and no period for the deployment.
The two figures cannot be read as a like-for-like count. APP did not say whether its Punjab number covers the whole province or a single city, and the reports do not establish whether the two deployments belong to one nationwide campaign or to separate provincial drives. Neither report says what cover, if any, vaccinators are receiving in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan, or how many children the campaign is meant to reach.
Separately, APP reported that strict security arrangements had been put in place at churches and other important locations in Rawalpindi on the directions of City Police Officer Hassan Mushtaq Sukhaira. That report did not say what prompted the measure, how many officers were assigned or how long the arrangements would remain in force.
The only official named in the reports is the Rawalpindi city police officer. APP's polio report attributed the deployment to police generally, and The Hindu's report cited no Sindh official.
APP gave the Punjab figure as "more than 1,000 police officers and personnel" without breaking it down by rank or unit.
