Karachi to build Rs1 billion flyover on Nishtar Road
Mayor Murtaza Wahab says groundbreaking is set for November 20 and the KMC will finish the work in 100 days from its own funds.

Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will build a flyover on Nishtar Road at an estimated cost of Rs1 billion, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced at a press conference at the KMC head office.
Wahab said the groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for November 20 and that the flyover is expected to be completed within 100 days. The corporation will pay for the work from its own resources, he said. ProPakistani reported that the press conference was held on Monday; TechJuice did not give the day.
The flyover belongs to a wider KMC infrastructure programme that covers road rehabilitation, traffic improvements and alternative routes across the city's seven districts. The Chakora Nullah Expressway and the rehabilitation of major roads are among the projects already under way in that programme, both outlets reported.
The KMC expects the new structure to improve traffic movement on Nishtar Road.
The reports did not name a contractor, give the length of the flyover, or say how many lanes it will carry. They did not say whether the Rs1 billion figure covers land acquisition and the shifting of utility lines as well as construction, or whether the 100-day timeline allows for delays from rain or utility work.
According to ProPakistani, Wahab said the local government was undertaking development projects in all seven districts of Karachi and working to address the city's infrastructure needs. The Nishtar Road flyover is one of several projects the corporation is pursuing through its own resources, the outlet reported.
Both reports said the project would be financed from the corporation's own funds. Neither mentioned provincial or federal money for it.
