Pakistan takes chair of SCO interbank consortium for 2026-27
The finance ministry says Sultan Ali Allana holds the consortium chair for the same term in which Pakistan heads the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

Pakistan has assumed the chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's Interbank Consortium for 2026-2027, with Sultan Ali Allana taking charge as chairman of the consortium, the Ministry of Finance said.
The ministry said the two positions run for the same period: Pakistan heads the SCO and the organisation's interbank consortium during the same term. It congratulated Allana on assuming the responsibility.
According to the ministry, the chairmanship reflects Pakistan's growing role in promoting regional trade, investment and financial links among SCO member states.
UrduPoint reported that Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry described the chairmanship as a major diplomatic success for Pakistan at the international level.
The ministry said Pakistan is committed to strengthening economic partnership among SCO member states and to making cross-border trade and investment easier. Regional economic integration and shared prosperity are among the country's priorities, it said.
Pakistan is a member of the SCO, and the interbank consortium chair for the 2026-27 term is now held by a Pakistani official named by the ministry as Allana.
