PM unveils mechanism for allocating LPG quotas
Dawn reports the allocation system was presented as transparent but gives no formula, quota size or venue for the announcement

The prime minister has unveiled a mechanism for allocating quotas of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), Dawn reported on Thursday, describing it as a transparent way of distributing the fuel.
Dawn's report, headlined "PM unveils transparent mechanism for allocating LPG quotas", did not set out the formula, the size of the quotas, the companies or sectors covered, or the forum at which the mechanism was announced. No text of the decision or a notification accompanied the report.
LPG is used in homes and businesses outside the piped gas network.
In a separate statement, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Thursday that transparent, well-coordinated mechanisms were needed to expand international opportunities for Pakistani health professionals. The Associated Press of Pakistan reported that Dar also called for accelerating local vaccine manufacturing and licensing.
APP did not say where Dar spoke, or whether the subject came up at the same meeting as the LPG quotas. Its report made no reference to LPG, and Dawn's report made no reference to Dar's remarks.
Neither report said which body will administer the LPG quotas, how they will be divided among importers and marketing companies, or when the system takes effect.
How the reports differ
Dawn and APP reported different subjects under the same slug. Dawn carried only the prime minister's LPG quota mechanism and gave no formula, quota size or venue for the announcement. APP carried only Ishaq Dar's call for transparent mechanisms on overseas health jobs and faster local vaccine production, and made no mention of LPG. Neither report referred to the other's subject.
