Sahiwal police register kidnap, rape case of 14-year-old after months
The girl was taken from her house in Kameer Town at gunpoint by the suspect and four accomplices; police have not said where she is.

Kameer police in Sahiwal have registered a kidnap and rape case over an attack on a 14-year-old student, three and a half months after her family first reported it. The girl has not been found.
Dawn reported the registration on Thursday, saying the case was filed months after the assault.
According to the complaint recorded by Kameer police and quoted by Daily Times, the main suspect entered the girl's house in Kameer Town while she was alone and assaulted her. Her mother reached home during the attack and raised the alarm, and the man fled. Her family went to the police straight away and asked for protection.
The complaint states that the suspect came back soon afterwards with four accomplices, two of them women, and that the armed group took the girl away at gunpoint in a vehicle to an undisclosed location. Her family filed abduction complaints naming the accomplices.
Police registered charges under the abduction and rape sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. Search operations are continuing, and the police have not said where the girl is.
Regional Police Officer Rana Ayaz Saleem dismissed Inspector Majid Ashfaq, the station house officer of Harappa police station, after departmental inquiries found him guilty of mala fide conduct and dishonesty in his investigations into a case involving a female student. Daily Times described that case as a honey-trap case.
The RPO also dismissed senior police clerk Sajid Yaqoob after complaints of corruption and bribery were verified, according to the outlet.
Inspectors Athar Rashid and Waqas Ahmad were each penalised with the forfeiture of one year of approved service, Daily Times reported.
Lady Inspector Munazza Muhammad Ali and Lady Head Constable Misbah Tariq were each penalised with the forfeiture of two years of approved service.
How the reports differ
Dawn led on the registration of the rape case alone, reporting that police acted months after the assault; its headline made no mention of the kidnapping or that the girl is still missing. Daily Times reported the case as one of kidnapping and rape, put the delay at three and a half months, and was alone in carrying the details of the abduction by four accomplices, two of them women, and the fact that the girl's whereabouts are unknown. Daily Times also carried the Regional Police Officer's disciplinary action against the Harappa station house officer, a senior clerk and four other officers, which Dawn's headline report did not mention.
