Sindh medical universities flag 53 marks sheets in MBBS admissions
LUMHS Jamshoro reported 43 suspect sheets and JSMU Karachi seven, a breakdown that adds to 50 against the report's stated total of 53.

Two public-sector medical universities in Sindh have flagged 53 marks sheets submitted by MBBS candidates as suspicious, after the marks on the documents did not match the results published in intermediate board gazettes, according to Minute Mirror.
Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in Jamshoro identified 43 of the sheets and Jinnah Sindh Medical University in Karachi seven. The two figures add to 50; the report gave the overall total as 53 and did not account for the difference.
The documents belonged to candidates registered with the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad, the report said, citing sources it did not name. The discrepancies emerged when the marks sheets were compared with the Hyderabad Board's official gazette for the 2026 annual intermediate pre-medical examinations. In some cases, candidates' overall marks were raised by 50 to 100 under the pretext of scrutiny.
A shift of that size can move a candidate up or down the merit list for medical college seats. The report said deserving candidates could lose their places as a result.
According to the same report, the scrutiny was carried out while Hyderabad Board Chairman Faqir Muhammad Lakho was abroad to perform Umrah. It said questions have been raised about who authorised the changes in his absence, which officials processed the scrutiny applications, and whether the board's rules were followed. Deputy Controller of the Top Secret Branch Ijaz Ali Kaka has been suspended in connection with the matter.
The report said complaints about the 2026 Intermediate Part-II results at the Hyderabad Board had surfaced before the universities began checking marks sheets.
Concerns have also been raised about marks sheets issued by the Mirpurkhas Board. Universities handling MBBS admissions asked the board for its original result gazettes and were not being given them, the report said, which has made independent verification of candidates' records difficult.
No suspicious marks sheets have been reported so far at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University in Larkana, the third public-sector medical university in the admissions process. The report said sources had nonetheless questioned how that university verifies marks sheets.
How the reports differ
Minute Mirror carried the university-by-university detail: 43 suspect sheets at LUMHS Jamshoro and seven at JSMU Karachi, the suspension of Deputy Controller Ijaz Ali Kaka, and the scrutiny said to have been run while Hyderabad Board Chairman Faqir Muhammad Lakho was abroad for Umrah. That report put the total at 53 while the two university figures it gave add to 50, and it did not explain the gap. The News International led on the affair as a marks manipulation scandal in Sindh MBBS admissions, and the copy available from it did not carry the university breakdown.
